Foot & Ankle

When life’s big events roll around, your feet need to be in shape to handle the stress that comes along with those occasions. Graduations, weddings, and new additions to the family all require your time and presence. The last thing you want is to sit out these occasions due to foot and ankle problems. We know how frustrating sitting down can be, unable to participate in events because your feet hurt too badly. For this reason, we at the Premier Podiatry & Orthopedics are highly-trained to treat a host of common conditions.

Arthritis

Osteoarthritis, also known as the “wear and tear” arthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis, a painful joint inflammation, are both diseases that attack the joints in the feet and ankles. The conditions come from genetics, obesity, and previous injury, and sometimes are the side effects of aging, developing and progressing over time. The treatment is usually a blend of rest, ice, orthotics, lifestyle changes, physical therapy, and surgery, depending on the extent of damage.

Bunions

Bunions are a bony joint deformity at the base of your big toe, where the toe bone meets the first metatarsal bone in the metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint. When your big toe points toward the little toes on your foot, the first metatarsal head sticks out on the inner side of your foot. Poor footwear, inherited foot structure, traumatic injuries, and arthritis are some things that cause these bumps. This toe deformity can also cause other conditions like hammertoes and claw toes, so it’s best to treat it early.

Heel Pain

Heel pain affects almost everyone—young or old, athletes or channel surfers— and is caused by plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinitis, stress fractures, heel spurs, and Sever’s disease, most commonly. It is often catalyzed by overuse, bad shoes, poor foot alignment, or improper foot strike when walking or running.

Flat Feet

Someone who has flat feet has little or no arch at all, which is most likely due to heredity. Cases that happen later in life are usually sustained from arthritis or an injury to a tendon, muscle, or ligament. People with flat feet tend to overpronate, causing other foot and ankle problems. Custom-made orthotics from our office might be your best bet to help combat issues that could crop up.

Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome

Shooting pain, burning, and numbness in the foot are some symptoms of tarsal tunnel, a condition that compresses the tibial nerve behind the inside of your ankle. Possible causes? Flat feet, ankle sprains, arthritis, and diabetes. We specialize in nerve pain, so you can certainly call Premier Podiatry & Orthopedics to have this treated.

Toe Pain

Your toes undergo a lot of stress and pressure to help you balance, push off, and grip the ground as you walk, run, and go about your day. When problems like capsulitis, hallux rigidus, and claw toes kick in, we can help solve the most complex of issues.

Treatment at Premier Podiatry & Orthopedics

We don’t want you to think that we don’t handle the more normal issues, like nail trimming and other general foot care. However, we want you to know that our staff of specialists can complete your diagnosis and treat the more complex foot and ankle problems. We even offer same-day service for traumatic injuries, and perform many foot and ankle surgeries for extreme cases. It’s just another way to help you live the life you want to, free of pain and full of activities with your family.

Testimonials

I came to Dr. Betesh for a second opinion on a chronic pain issue I had been struggling with for over a year. I was so pleased when he gave me a solid treatment plan to rehabilitate my achy ankle! Then, on my second visit, since I had some other issues arise in the foot but unrelated to the ankle, he sensed my anxiety regarding the surgery on the ankle. I was thrilled that he was able to offer an alternate approach to the process of recovery. I really feel like I am being heard at Premier Podiatry and Orthopedics by the whole staff. I am so happy to have reliable and knowledgeable people in my corner now. I always walk out of the office feeling reassured and hopeful.
